    Question 3rd Time...

Since I added my TI 5/8th Eagle to my rotation, this is the 3rd time I've got a shave that is truly at another level.

In the hand of str8 shaving, I seem to have either gotten a good card on lather making, or good city water!!

Anyhow, cold water splash, Col Conk's Amber worked in, then lather again, shave with the TI, two passes, BBS shave, no burn, just pure shaving enjoyment.

Another reason for this thread, is an associate asked me about straight shaving, in a somewhat mocking tone, so I decided to explain to him why I like it.

What I said was, at this point in my life, I've learned enough about doing tasks. Meeting so called people who say they can, "multi-task". Well, I have yet to meet anyone who can do that, what I see are people doing several things without focus, and generally doing several things badly.

Shaving with a straight is more than a task, it takes a commitment of time and patience to use virtually a surgical instrument on your face. And for me, that is the difference between a task and an experience.

I refuse to speed through my life, like a robot, doing tasks and ticking things off some list. I want my life to be about experience, and learning to live, "right now", and experience fully the things in my day whether good, bad or indifferent. And learning to find "experience" in the things we do is important, and learning to find experience makes us work to find it, and it defines who we are and makes us better people.

And the differences can be simple, taking the time to find experience in something as simple as your morning shave, and translating that as an experience rather than a task is truly a gift that can enhance the way we view and live our lives.

The past is gone, the future is not here yet, all we have is today, because none of us is promised tomorrow.

Needless to say, this philosophical, Zen and the Art of shaving was lost on him, I gave him his Blackberry back and he felt better...

Anyhow, guess I should file this under, "Rant of the Day"!

Some just don't get it. Yours was a perfect rant/explanation. I do that sometimes too but after it feels like I just talked to a wall. I have found it better to ask them what they hate about shaving and agree with the list . Then say " I don't have any of that" and I look forward to treating my face to a nice shave. I don't use the money comparison thing because ,welllllll, you know why :<0)
    Cangooner and Phrank like this.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Yea, nobody has the time to stop and smell the roses anymore. Multi tasking has to be one of the biggest loads of crap ever sold to people. Thanks Phrank.

    Eloquently stated Phrank.
A man should only look in the mirror when he shaves.
