+1 to giving credit where credit is due.
Like you I feel very fortunate that so many have put time and energy in sharing their experiences, tips and passion in written and video form. My brother took a shot at SR shaving when we were in high school in the 80's. That foray didn't last long because he had no one to turn to for help. And the BAD info he tried to share with me when I started....man, no wonder he gave up (I'm working on getting him back into it).
This forum and the regulars are truly a great bunch of men. All us newbies owe you a debt that can only be repaid by staying plugged in here and encouraging those who come after us.
Getting off my now.
Have a great shaveMalo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium

You're off to a great start, and you'll get more comfortable with using your left hand pretty quickly. Starting with a 6/8 blade was smart because it's easier to learn to strop correctly with that width.

Thanks again. I have to say the WWII guys are a special breed and fading away fast. The big difference today is the technology and equipment that wasn't around for those guys. Not to imply it's any easier for the military today.
Tell your Dad Semper Fi and I appreciate his service paving the way.
Yea that cat reference was a good one!
Amen I couldnt have said it better!
I'll take a compliment any day - thank you. I really do like this blade but I see an addiction in my future because there are so many cool SRs out there not to mention the vintage stuff, restoring, honing etc. I may need an intervention.

It won't take you 100 shaves to enjoy a good shave. Granted, at the 100 shave mark, you will have completed a big learning curve. I think after 1 month, you'll see a vast improvement. I think after every 10-20 shaves, I had an "a-ha" moment, in which I gained a new insight or touch. Welcome aboard Jarhead, I'm an old Dog Face myself, and I too insisted on shaving my entire face in the beginning. Enjoy the process.

Thanks for that and I wish I could. Dad lived a great long life and passed away a few years ago at the grand old age of 95.
