    Default Straight Razor Success!!!

Well it is the end of my second week Shaving with a straight razor ( Dovo Prima Klang from SRD )
This Journey started out with a bit of blood and burn, but with all the advise from reading posts, yesterday was my first "nearly Bloodless" and today was my first bloodless shave, and it is at least a DFS shave, with BBS face.

I am stoked. The two advise posts i read that helped the most were:
Just try to take the lather off instead of cutting all the beard
Get the blade moving before it touches your skin and use short little strokes

I am not even sure what i am doing ( except better ) to be so much more confident and less pink. it just seems to becoming much more natural

Thanks to everyone who passes on their knowledge and experience

    Don

+1 to Wiping the lather off! Im roughly about 2 weeks in with a shave ready now and its amazing how much each shave improves. But wiping lather off saves a lot of rash! Nice work

Good work. It is an interesting journey. I was getting consistent shaves and then starting wodering "what would happen if I just.....".Learned a bit about what works for and what doesn't. If you end up having a few bad days, take a day or so off to let your skin heal up and have another try at it. As time goes by it only gets better.
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

Congratulations, it is a very satisfying feeling the first bloodless shave.

I don't tire of hearing these early breakthroughs. Bravo Don.

The phrases sound tired after a few yrs, but they remain true - it only gets better from here.

FWIW - years later, I still come away from a shave feeling great - whether or not it was a fast shave or particularly careful & close. It seems like a satisfaction that evolves, but doesn't fade much.

    Enjoy. And keep going.
