Default Broke out the styptic pencil tonight

I just got back a re-built Goldedge (scales, spacer, s/s screws, round spike point, polish and sharpen - all for $45) and was anxious to see what the dubl ducks shaved like - left it at work . So....I broke out the merkur slant w/a feather blade and shaved away. I also used some cream, which I havent used in about a month. Nicks all over my face. It was then I realized how forgiving straight razors really are. Up until tonight, I've been shaving with various straights for several weeks now with zero nicks and very minor razor burn, if at all. Plus, shaving with the slant was no fun.

I did something similar the other day. Was in a rush, did the first pass with the straight and a 2nd pass with a feather DE with feather blades. Guess I was a little lazy with my DE technique, nicked myself three times.

    *sigh*
