Itchy chin and neck
New problem after shaving with a straight since July. I have not changed any soaps or creams but now my chin and neck itch after shaving. Any what might cause this? I am going to try shaving every other day and see if that fixes the problem.

May want to try Alum after shaving, rinse then an alcohol aftershave, followed by a balm.

I do use alum block followed by balm. I will try the alcohol after shave next time before the balm

I found all of a sudden after shaving I would also have itching under my chin and the upper neck in the center. In my case I guess it was age changes. I switched to shaving every other day and the issue went away.

Can lack moisturizer cause the itching? I don't normally use a after shave balm but maybe that is it.

If you determine that it's not the aftershave or balm try refreshing your razor. Sometimes before we consciously observe a refresh is needed we subconsciously shave a tad too aggressive and our sensitive areas will react. Not always with razor burn but with an itch.

Thanked: 1195For me those areas only itch when my whiskers start growing back...
I agree, first try some alum and an alcohol splash and see if that cures it.

Often, if I get that BBS, later in the afternoon my face is very itchy, especially under the jawline.
I went through a long time tracking this down, including alum, balms, lotions, splashes, and voodoo.
It was not irritation, nor was it a dryness issue. Finally, after several weeks, i chalked it up to the hair emerging from the skin again. The solution for me is (oh the horror) a quick second shave when I get home from work. It has the added benefit of meaning nuzzling the wife with a freshly smoothed face.
Also, by quick, I mean a single pass over those itchy areas.
I can also avoid the itch by not shaving and letting the hair grow out. But where is the fun in that?
