First shave complete
So this is how my first shave went (not sure if this is the proper forum but here we go)
Touched up razor with 5 laps each side on balsa with .5 diamond.
Warmed up on denim (haven't hung my leather and felt strop yet)
20 passes on latigo, 20 passes on bridal leather (3 inch paddle strop from starshave.com)
Wet mitchell's wool soap with a few drops of hot water, and jumped in shower.
Got out of shower, wet brush and slapped a hot cloth on face for a few minutes.
Scoured the soap with brush and lathered on face (couldn't get my mug to build lather)
Shave was fairly smooth, struggled angles a little bit, i followed Jarrod at superior shave and did one with grain one against grain.
2 weepers and one nice little cut on chin where i had some lateral movement.
face feels a little warm, and mostly smooth.
I'm very happy with my first results, a week ago i didn't even have a SR, tonight i went from balsa to shave and feel very satisfied.
I'm glad i made the switch, and im glad i joined the community!

Congrats - excellent first effort!!
Your face may be tingling a bit, aside from the shave, from the MWF...I tried it for the first time and the lanolin gave me a tingling sensation as well. Certainly is an excellent soap.
One aspect of shaving I now love, wouldn't even have occurred to me if it wasn't for str8 shaving, is the alum block.
After a shave, you rinse the alum block in some nice cool water, and rub all over your face. It stings, soothes, and acts as an antiseptic...for me, it's the highlight of the shave, as not only does it feel great, it tells me how my shave was and hints at the condition of the blade.
I have the Thiers-Issard Alum block, and it's now a permanent part of my routine....
Cheers!

Ya i think i may consider, i had a few cuts but didn't use an antiseptic, ill keep an eye on those cuts i guess.
Boker extra hollow shaved great though. really enjoyed it for being a honed out +70 year old razor.

The founder of this site, Lynn Abrams, passed off a tip that I now follow without fail. Any time I get a nick or the occasional cut, I use Polysporin or any topical ointment will do...it heals the cut much quicker and cleaner!!
I have an old Boker King Cutter, they are classic razors....
