To me the tough part about bbs is that I could scrape away all day, still get whiskers cut, and keep cutting. But once the face rests and relaxes it feels bbs. So where do I stop? Usually 1 wtg, 1 xtg.
Under the chin I would never go atg. Too difficult wi4h few returnss.

I usually do 4 passes daily. Reasons being, I have the time and like to shave combined with not so good edges and technique. Not much if any irritation either.

I am with you on this,

a few years in and I still try new things as far as my technique.

I stick with what I like/works but will always try something new (and more than once to get a better measure of it).
    It is just Whisker Whacking
    Relax and Enjoy!

I just can's seem to find a grip and angle that makes me feel comfortable doing it. I have evolved more to the scything strokes others have mentioned in this thread. They seem to follow my beard growth better.

After using it for many years of my grandfather DE (Gillette Rocket 1958 Flare Tip) I discovered the forums.
In the Italian forum ilRasoio.com there is a good discussion on how to shave.
    ilRasoio.com - Face mapping & Passes Technique
Reading it I improved my technique clearing to me first of all my distribution of the beard.
    The so-called Face Mapping.
Also, thanks to an online application: http://www.pbjsite.com/shave/whiskarmap/
There is also a nice PDF document that clarifies the topic.

    These are photos explanatory.

In my case, the application of all this knowledge, led to my current technique :
    IschiaPP's Technique
working days - WTG + XTGN

weekend & BBS - add XTGR + ATG + Touches

    I hope it helps.

Thank you for that informative post. I was stunned to see that the photos of the different passes depict how I do them with the exception of the upper lip as I wear a mustache. Instead of doing touch ups after 3 passes I just do another XTG pass. The first XTG pass is ear to chin and the second after the ATG pass is done would be XTG center to ear. Normally gives a BBS.
