Default Smooth face, but lots of tugging and pulling.

Went about a week with out a shave, went at it tonight with my two extra hollow grounds, and OUCH.

Lots of tugging and pulling, lots of blade skipping.

Up until this i had been taking ether one of these very hollow ground razors and shaving every day or two.

I did hone one because i noticed some uneven spots. but the other remained with the edge it had before.

both got about 20 passes on my latigo strop.

I'm not sure what i changed

It would be really hard to nail down a cause from the info you gave, there are just to many variables that you changed. It could be anyone of those, or even something minor you overlooked

First off, increase your number of laps on the strop. Most of us do an average of 60 on leather per shave.

Second, this could also be a technique issue. Extra growth provides extra resistance for the blade, which often shows itself as tugging/pulling if the correct technique isn't employed.

Third, most of us agree that we get our smoothest shaves after mowing down longer growth. That would account for your smooth shave, despite the tugging.
