I use my DE about once every two weeks. It is cool but make me appreciate just how much longer a good 'straight' shave lasts.

Bingo,
The saying "He don't know what he don't know" so the continuation of trying to convince him of the inaccuracies of his hypothesis is basically a serious waste of typing...
ps: I don't think I ever laughed so hard at a microscope analysis as the one he linked. completely "Honing Ignorant" people presenting their uninformed opinions..
There are some pretty bad ones out there too, but I doubt anyone involved has ever honed a SR,, let alone is an expert.

Thanked: 3795I think that you certainly have made your point that you prefer DE or SE blades.
Many of us prefer the shaves that we get from straight razors, and that is why we are here. The fact that you have attempted to improve your edges for 4 years does not mean that you have reached some sort of pinnacle of success. The quality of the attempt is as important as the quantity.
Regarding your honing, you should know that kosher coticules are no better or worse than any other coticules. It simply is a matter of appearance and not function.
The fact that you seem to think that you have gained some archaic honing knowledge from describing honing with oil on a coticule indicates that you have not done much reading here. Been there, done that, and shaved with it.
Also, your repeated attempt to indicate some higher level skill or knowledge due to bumping elbows with old guys with a lot of razor experience does not in any way indicate your level of knowledge or experience. One thing that you should be made aware of is that the term "honemeister" was a term invented as a compliment to the founder of this forum. So, unless you have met Lynn Abrams, you have never met a honemeister.
Finally, please consider using punctuation in your future posts.Last edited by Utopian; 06-10-2016 at 08:01 PM.

You should be happy for me, as my equipment is way better than most of yours, I haven't bought any of those cheap razors you mention, but that's cool at least you can afford them, and maybe a few more years you will learn to hone too.
You know Oz already told you that a DE blade and a straight measure the same.4 microns, so your theory is at best questionable. But let me say this so you can stop with me, I DONT CARE WHAT YOU THINK. I,m saying that your statement is not true and I don't have to believe it, you can if you want cause it doesn't matter to me, I,m happy with mine, try to be happy with yours, and maybe then you wll quit all the many posts trying to convince us that we don't know what we like. Maybe your just unhappy with where you live, I don't know but lighten up or go away. Tc“ I,m getting the impression that everyone thinks I have TIME to fix their bikes”

Can I just say that this thread is making my day.
State v. Durham, 323 N.W. 2d 243, 245 (Iowa 1982) (holding that a straight razor is per se a "dangerous weapon").
