Thanked: 5Razor Burn? One razor only.
One of my razors feels like its burning as I am shaving. Only my mustache area though. On the rest of my face feels smooth. When I say "burning" , its not razor burn but just how the blade feels as it cutting the whiskers. I usually end up with minimal razor burn after my shaves. Could it just be the angle I am holding it at or something more technical like the metallurgy of the blade that my skin doesn't like?

Thanked: 154Since it's only on your mustache area, it could be that you are simply more sensitive there, and are using a tad too much pressure when shaving. Unless your skin is especially sensitive, you really shouldn't have any razor burn during or after your shave. Be sure to lather up well, and let your whiskers soften before shaving, too; it can help a lot.

I had one razor like that, very sharp but just a little off kilter. Great shaves but left be a touch tender. Maybe a couple of licks on a finishing hone might do the trick if you have one...

Sounds like you have residual burn that is lingering and when you next shave your skin is telling you the irritation is still there. Skip the straight a few days and see what happens.

Thanked: 5I think you may be right. I don't have a lot of time with straight razors, so maybe it is something that is just starting to surface.
My mustache and chin hairs are like porcupine hair. I'm thinking it maybe because its the widest blade I own and I may be getting at to steep of an angle with it.

Thanked: 5I think I found the problem. I got a jewelers loupe and found on the razor a flaw in the grind, right at the tip. The razor is a square point with a very small radius. I must have missed honing a smooth transition on the radius. Since I predominantly use the tip area under my nose, I think this honing imperfection was irritating my skin. All good now
