    Default Shave Habits

Habit - An acquired behavior pattern regularly followed until it has become almost involuntary.

I was reading a thread earlier about being compulsive and started thinking about my shave habits.
I will NOT hold my razor until I cover the faucet with a washrag. Even if im off to the side of the sink.
Any shave habits out there? Post it here.

I relax and deliberately get real focused. I tried the not-focused way for a while and that wasn't working for me.

I'm similar to yours here...must make the area razor safe...I actually have an area beside the sink that I leave a good sized folded towel, well on the sink area(nowhere near the edge), that if I ever need to put the razor down, I have a safe place to put it right away.

I have made it a strict practice that once I pick up my razor and start shaving I do not put it down until I am finished shaving. It goes from one hand to the other since I shave with either hand where needed. Being ambidextrous also allows me to re-lather with either hand. You do, tho, need to remember which hand you normally scratch your nose with when it gets itchy.

Do you rinse or wipe the blade after doing one side of your face before going to the other?

I always have a towel to place my razor on while I do other things. Afterwards I use it to wipe down the counter and faucet.

pix, I keep a large damp sponge with a paper towel on it. I wipe as I go. When I'm done shaving I scoop out what's left of the lather on the paper towel and dispose of it. Too much lather down the drain equals backup in my system.

Most things are subject to change especially as I used Straights and DE's, creams and soaps. Now the weather is cooling down, cold "face lathering" shaving is being replaced with hot "mix in the bowl" shaving, the only one thing doesn't seem to change if I'm honest "The BSS" I won't stop until its achieved….. smooth in all directions……simple but compulsive behaviour no doubt….

I attend to my razors after my shave before myself. As in I clean and dry them before rinsing my face and applying aftershave.

I do exactly the same. Just remember: nose hand = brush hand!
