Thanked: 8I Never Thought These Words Would Ever Come Out of My Mouth
As the title says, I NEVER thought the words "I wish my facial hair grew faster" would ever come out of my mouth. I used to shave with cartridge razors and always hated shaving. Now I get finished shaving and a few hours later think "Man I wish I had more hair so I could shave right now." Lol Talk about a change of thought! I shave every other day so then have to go grudgingly through 48 hours before I can shave again, and now when I do I have to wait because my kids always want to watch. Lol My son was as excited as I was to get my razors back from being restored by Glen. One for honing and a Wade and Butcher restore. (I keep meaning to post pics), When I took the Wade out of the package my 5 year old son said "Oooo Baby!" Lol I think we have a future straight shaver on our hands. Lol

Thanked: 0I know exactly what you mean! I use to hate it as well. Now I really look forward to it! I am even considering shaving off more of my beard so there's more face to shave! LOL It is almost spring now, and the old "it's too hot to have a beard" excuse is looming out there for me!

Ditto. I cannot believe I actually look forward to shaving. I used to skip a day and never shave on weekends. Now I get up on Sundays and shave even though I got nothing going on. It finally become a pleasure and ceased to be a painful, irritating chore.

These comments occur regularly in the forum.
People begin hobbies because they enjoy the activity and the result of the effort. When a better way to achieve a desired result is found we tend to stay with the practice. The resurgence of straight razor shaving can be contributed to many factors such as cost of carts, poor results, uncomfortable shaves and a general feeling of something better must exist.

Thanked: 1I feel the same way. Shaving used to be a chore that I put off for days at a time, now I shave daily. The pain and ingrown hairs that resulted from carts had nearly driven me to the point of not shaving at all if it were not for SWMBO and an allergy to my own hair.

Thanked: 1Amen ffarouki, talk about turning a chore into a hobby.
If I know it will be a tough day I sometimes wait until after work to shave so I can have some focused 'me' time to decompress. Even the pre/post shave prep makes it fun

Same here. Always used shaving soap, but scraped my face with the obligatory "Trac II" type razor. Now I've got a Merkur and I look forward to shaving every day.

Thanked: 24Sometimes I use marginally-less sharp blades so that I don't have to wait so long.
