I completed my first shave with a straight razor a couple of days ago. All I had was the razor and a can of Barbasol. Egads, I know. I've scarred some of you for life. The first one didn't go as well as the second one, still with the Barbasol.
So I searched and searched my little one horse town. CVS, Rite Aid(found some soap there), Walmart, Big Lots, a couple of local Barber shops. You get the picture. I was batting zero.
Then I needed to go to the grocery store. Low and behold, there in the shaving aisle, Van Der Hagen's "premium" shaving kit.

So I'm ready, now. It really seems silly for a 50 year old man to be so excited about using a cheap brush, bowl, and soap to do something so mundane and every day as shave the whiskers off of his face, but I can't wait.
