First honing lession
Thanks to Nipper - who invited me to his home to show me the honing ropes. The 1 1/2 hour drive to Pittsboro NC was rewarded with a great lunch/afternoon honing and stropping session -one very sharp razor- one borrowed very sharp razor and a 1000 grit stone to set the bevels on my other razors. Have some lapping film onthe way from Rick Boone and with my beginner strop with linen/leather and balso with Chromium Oxide - I "ought" to be ready to do some damage. Thanks Nipper!!

Nice - it's always great to hear stories like this of folks getting together to pass on their knowledge.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Thanked: 8I can't wait to the get together in NC I believe your going to that as well Rick later this month. I spoke to Lynn who will also be attending and feel very lucky I will be attending his honing demonstration and will be starting fresh. I have never honed a razor. Stropping is the limit of my knowledge and even that I am sure my technique can be improved upon ! It is a 14 hour drive I am happy to be making.
