    Default When do you stop

I have noticed that as long as my face and hands are wet and I'm rubbing my face I keep feeling stubble. I shaved tonight with my DD and it's sharp my prep is good I think and I kept feeling stubble after WTG ATG and several passes. now I just stopped and rinsed with hot then cold water. when I was through rinsing I could feel no stubble. so is there a sign or technique that really lets you know when to stop. my face now is BBS and I believe it was before I stopped . just thought i'd ask is it just me or does anyone else noticed this.

I do the same passes and get a BBS shave most times. I only check and touch up on straight water if there is something special going on, like I'm sucking up to the wife.

your not alone Rhensley, i think it is just the hair relaxes after the final hot rinse maybe. followed by facesturbation for a couple of hours until you feel more stubble again.

    I hear you Rez,
2 or 3 pass DFS for work etc but BBS for the bride.

life will be hard if you can't justify spending all your money & time in the shed due to RAD, HAD, ASAD etc if you can't justify it with results when SWMBO becons

Sadly rhensley,,,your suffering from the mental condition known as "Barba Incipiente Psychosis"; Stubble Disorder in common layman's terms. The more you experience wetshaving, the more the condition effects your ability to get a satisfying shave. How does this happen? Simple,,,we set standards, some may call them goals, that are unreal.

    For instance;
    # 1. We shave in hopes of reaching the result of BBS (Baby Butt Smooth). This goal, in itself, is realisticly unreachable. Reason,,,a baby's butt has no stubble to begin with. A human baby that is; a porcupine baby or a bear cub would indeed have stubble on it. So,,,change your goal to PBS (Porcupine Butt Smooth) or BCBS (Bear Cub Butt Smooth).

#2. We become enticed to certain razors like the Double Duck razor, thinking that the name alone will give use the satisfaction we seek; when in fact, the common Gold Dollar razor will give use that PBS (Porcupine Butt Smooth) that we seek.

Finally , to answer your question, ",,,is there a sign or technique that really lets you know when to stop,,"
Yes,,,,when you have exhausted your finances on fancy razors, hones (chasing that edge) & exotic shave creams,, you will wake up with no money for dinner with the wife and movies with the kids. Then you take your hand, rub it across your face & say to yourself, "I can live with the stubble."

I stopped chasing BBS a long while ago. I just aim for close and comfortable. It's gonna grow right back anyways.

First and Foremost; I fully realize that it is Heresy to say that; I Do Not Believe In The BBS Shave! I believe in achieving a 'Close, Comfortable and Smooth Shave'!

Spending time going over and over your face is a Waste Of Time!! I've read of new members doing 4+ passes in pursuit of the 'nirvana' of the BBS!

Those 'little bitty encie weince tiney bits' that you can feel are Never Going to Be Noticed by Anyone But YOU!

Enjoy the shave, forget about the BBS!!!

I do a two pass shave 'IF' I shave the night before so that my shave will pass my companies dress code the next day. However if I'm shaving in the morning I just do a single pass and the shave holds up to the dress code!

As I said, just enjoy the shave!

Yup, the better job I do at shaving means the longer I have to wait to shave again...so I basically do the same routine, and the results vary, I don't sweat it.

There are sections that i'll leave "less than perfect" because that's just a lot easier and will pass most inspections. BUT THERE are other areas that i double check in order to be sure they are clean with nothing to feel.

The less that perfect areas tend to get irritated if "overbuffed". The other areas a lot more tolerant, but also just easier to get "right".

Knowing when to say when! Worst irritations i've ever had were from overbuffing with DE for dates. Then you go all the way there hoping you're not bleeding on your collar and that she won't notice your over-shaving errors.

I am one of those obsessed if I feel a single hair. I like to be smooth even as I stretch the skin ridiculously a check ATG. I stop based on a few factors: Is my skin burning - if yes I will stop, if no I keep going. When will I shave again - if I do not plan to shave the next day, then I can damage my face more for a smoother shave. I know nobody else notices but me, however an errant follicle too early in the day is like having a chipped tooth you can not leave alone. If I am planning on shaving 24 hours later, I will take it easy otherwise the next day will be painful. Perfect rest time for my face is 36 hours.

Two passes and a couple spots that get touched up with a special grip is all my skin can take daily. That normally gets me BBS (95% of face) to DFS (100%). I have learned to leave the one spot at DFS. Short of growing a baby's hand on the end of a monkey's tail (also useful for reaching nuts and bolts under aircraft instrument panels), I can not figure how to move the razor ATG in that area without cutting my throat.
The easy road is rarely rewarding.
