Thread: Quiet please!! I'm trying to shave!!

Argh!

So I'm enjoying an early morning, pre-3rd interview(final interview), starting a beautiful shave. I had a little extra Proraso blue cream than desired, but it balanced well with TOBS grapefruit and a little glyc. Razor was extremely ready and only had 1 day growth. I'm a little out of it on Mucinex, Zicam and head feels like the English Channel socked in with fog and rain.

During the end of the first pass on the left side, razor in left hand. Wham! Open flies the door to the bathroom, in bursts my 9yr old daughter weeping about how inedible her boiled egg was because it was overdone and a brown egg. In goes the square point toward the base of my jaw line past my ear. 3/4" easily. I quickly finish up and decide its only going to be a one pass day. I look over at my daughter who has now drawn up along side me asking me how its going. I turn so she can see the profuse bleeding, mentioning something about being interrupted while shaving.

She meekly offers heartfelt apologies choking back tears. I console her that everything will be ok, meanwhile, thinking to myself that I hope that this is the case. She slinks out of the bathroom going back to the breakfast table with no objection to finishing her ruined breakfast.

Styptic and more styptic and more.... 15 minutes later and its not yet clotting. I'm thinking to myself that styptic is junk and I really should have had quick stop on hand. Couldn't glued the junk back together better than it looks now.

What did we learn here?
Be even more careful if your head is feeling all cotton-ninny-muggins like.
I need to be more shockproof.
Daughter needs to remember never to burst into the bathroom when I'm in there regardless of if I'm shaving.
1 pass served its purpose(I'm usually a 3 pass guy, but I can be flexible).
That quick stop stuff needs to be on my purchase list... as well as another styptic(though I think its only useful for minor weepers).

ps-Yes, I think the interview went well. I'm going to have to step out on faith with that.

My kids don't bust in but they have startled me by knocking on the door loudly. My sink is directly behind the door. Always makes me cautious. Even with a DE. Sorry about your cut. Good luck on the job.

I'm quite thankful that man created a thing called a Door Lock, most bathrooms have one. If the grandkids are here I Always Lock the Door.

I have no kids but my wife managed to startle me when I was just learning to shave. No consequences from that one but the wife is very careful now when I am shaving with a straight after a little discussion. I think if I had kids or active pets I would lock the bathroom door for sure, just in case. An ounce of prevention sorta thing.

I leave the door open when shaving, that way I can see the little devils.....cough hem hem cough, I mean little people coming. I have a 9 yr. old and a 4 yr. old, they don't think they just do. I'm to jumpy to close the door and lock it. It'd be my luck I'd close the door, lock it and right in the middle of a shave they'd try an plow the door down scaring the crap out of me

Yeah. I know. It's just never been a problem before. She wasn't thinking and if I hadn't been so foggy headed and medicated, I normally would not have let a thing like that surprise me.

I've been pretty shock proof in the past. She will normally check first if its ok to come in. I don't need any getting out of the shower surprises, but I don't lock the door in case its an emergency. It's not necessary.

New Puppy, two cats, one the dog loves the other the dog hates, add to this the hated cat sleeps in the bathtub. Was an interesting shave with a one inch cut on my neck, not from the the fresh razor, from the hated cat trying to get away. How did the cat cut my neck? I couldn't tell you but it took a while and a styptic pencil to stop it. I was alone when I started
