No touch up today !
Honed four razors today , all shaved but the last razor I honed was a three dollar rusted mess (Worcester)I put some work into , it still has some pitting but it shaved me nice and for the first time I did not touch the DE razor for clean up. Still a very new To all this but enjoying the ride, set the angle on a 800 china stone than a norton 4000/8000 ... I ordered a 12000 super stone , how much difference will I feel ?
The four razors were bought at a junk store for 48 bucks with taxLast edited by hotshoe; 04-07-2014 at 08:47 PM.

Thanked: 1In my experience the difference, that I can feel, between an 8k and 12k edge is greater as I get better at shaving. It is like any other skill it is harder to tell the difference between a middle of the road and a fine tuned tool or instrument when one is just learning. However as one gains skill the difference becomes very apparent. YMMV obviously.

You guys are off to a great start. Nothing like a great shave!
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Love the 12K one day I'll shave right after it but I've always taken it to linen and leather stropping. So yes you can and will feel a difference.

12 K came in today, even as a rookie with a straight I got a better shave, I'll have a better idea of my honing skill or lack of skill when my new 6/8 R A comes in and I have something to compare to

Yes, I've finally taken a few of my older blades to the Nani 12k, bit of water, make sure the water moves in a uniform way, and 10-14 laps and back to superb!
