My most EPIC shave yet
So I have been wet shaving for about a year and a half now. Started off extremely simple with a synthetic brush and a no name soap. Since then I have really had a few acquisition disorders(and I love it).
With that being said I have been tweaking my shave routine often and now I truly feel that I have had the most amazing shave to date. I think I have found a few great pieces that will continue to give me great shaves. I have taken tips from here and tried things out for myself. I'll break it down for you a bit.
1. I have been seeing a lot of threads about Stirling soap company on here lately. Have been using their soaps for a while now but after reading all the posts I decided to look through all of their products. So I read about their Sheep Soap. Its there original body soap. I ordered it and used it and it works amazing. Since I love how it felt on the rest of my body I decided to wash my face with it with even better results. So now I use that for my face prep.
2. I then use proraso pre shave cream. Love the cooling sensation it gives me throughout my whole shave and very nice slickness.
3. Los Angeles Shaving Soap Company. I ordered their sample pack and not only do they have a few stand out scents but the the performance was amazing. Its a soft soap that lathers as easy as any cream I have used but is as rich as most soaps I have used.( Of coarse YMMV) So so happy I made that purchase and will purchase a couple full sized tubs of their soap(Topanga Fougere and Santa Monica Bay Rum) And for those of you that care about that certain type of thing its a Vegan soap so thats pretty cool. I dont care about that so much but I'm sure some one will.
4. Alum block and I have absolutely gotten stuck on Nivea after shave Balm. I know it isnt fancy or trendy or anything but it performs amazingly for me and the scent kind of goes with anything. IMHO.
5. I used my Wade & Butcher Celebrated and my Royal Shave PB2 brush.
The whole experience was really enjoyable. The addition of the Sheep Soap i feel was the catalyst of the whole things. My face never felt softer or fresher after last night shave.
Sorry for the long post but I was soooooo impressed with Stirling Soap Comapny's Sheep Soap and LA shaving soap. They found a permanent place in my rotation and daily ritual.-David

Nice blurb!
I'm right with you on the LA Shaving soap, just order the santa monica and the bespoke since they were gracious enough to provide samples to everyone at the Asheville meet... and now i'm hooked! I also used the Nivea after shave balm for a bit. I prefer the l'Occitane balms and recently been trying the alum followed by ogallala and captains choice.-Dana

Thanked: 23Thanks for sharing your findings. I've tried the Nivea balm and although I like it I prefer Burt's Bees aftershave lotion. The fragrance is almost non-existent (may be a positive or negative depending on preference) and to me it moisturizes better than Nivea.

Thanked: 16I've never heard of the word "epic" applied to a shave but I like it. Your post focuses on the products you used, but perhaps this was the moment you finally got your technique with the straight just right. I struggled with the straight for a long time, never getting great shaves. One day it all came together and I got a great shave.
By the way, I find the Nivea Sensitive Skin After Shave Balm to be excellent.

Thanked: 228Same here, Nivea Post shave balm for sensitive skin. Umm, haven't made the leap yet to straight razor shave yet. Still DE wet shaving. Soon though.
