MAY A LICENSEE DO A STRAIGHT EDGE RAZOR SHAVE IN WISCONSIN?
The Wisconsin Statutes and the Wisconsin Administrative Code do not specifically prohibit the use of straight edge razors. However, because the strop or whetstone used to sharpen the razor cannot be cleaned as required by sanitation standards, they are for all purposes banned. Please see BC 4.02 and 4.03 for further information.

I tend, also, to believe the time to do a good shave is a drain on barber time in this day and age. So many things to update and keep track of that a couple local well liked barbers just retired rather than risk the chance of falling afoul of laws that change constantly. The cost of needed licenses and equipment have really gotten out of hand for a one chair shop.
But I can wish!!

Thanked: 154It does look a little odd, but is quite a secure way to grip a razor. I only hold the razor in my right hand while shaving, and use that grip with my traditional straight razors for some areas.
