    Still not sure about that palm stropping bit by Boker even after watching Livi do it in videos also

    Very good advice in those old razor instruction sheets! Please note that they said to keep the razor "quite flat" when stropping, not "completely flat." It is a subtle but very important distinction!

    I wouldn't read into it too much.
    The standard barbering text from the 50's says:" Draw the razor edge perfectly flat and straight over
    the surface of the strop."
