    Cool I love this stuff!

Ok, I am new here but have been lurking for a week or two. I have wanted to denounced the "modern shave" since I was old enough to need one. Up till now I have been a low maintenance, once a week hack of a shaver. Aerosol can of whatever and a cheap plastic disposable. "Hated it!" So I found an old Mehaz that I have had for more than 20 years and have never used and sent it in for sharpening. Bought 2 cans of Kell's shaving soap and a cheap boar hair brush and jumped into the deep end. My girlfriend looked at me with a dumbfounded expression when I told her what I was up to, but I proceeded in defiance of modern social acceptance. WOW!! What an experience. How is it that this is "obsolete"? Have we as a society become so lazy that something so luxurious is outdated? I have just experienced the best shave of my life. The only thing that bothers me is that it took me this long to find it.

Thank you to everyone on this post for opening my eyes.

Be welcome, and take it easy. Try to not become overconfident, because it is like to learn to ride a bike - Darwin is watching you. You'll share some blood with the environment soon or later, but soon you'll be running a Tour de France skilled enough to enjoy the landscape.
By now you met the luxury. Get a good shave, light a pipe, drink a shot of Royal Salute, put your gf on your lap, sniff the hell out of her neck and play slowly with her hair.
Soon you'll get addicted to luxury, feel need for adventure, and will find yourself looking for a straight razor.
    Cheers,

Yes indeed. And it surely has. I have definitely seen the light. It is amazing to me how a straight razor shave is seen as an art form known only to a barber. There is no going back for me.

I remember the first time I put a straight to my face. Even though the blade wasn't quite as sharp as it should have been, I knew then there wasn't a better way to shave. That was 5-6 months ago, and that one straight turned into 5.
