If you get a Pro-Honed razor try shaving with it without stropping for the first shave.,
Most of our Pros will tell you to rinse and gently wipe the blade and shave.
When you are starting out you have a tendency to not stropping at your best.
And before you know it this will all come together...

My Feather shavette is definitely sharper than any of my straights - but that's not always a good thing. Although I can get as good of a shave with my feather in 1-2 passes vs 2-3 passes with my straights, I LIKE that the straights aren't quite as sharp. Even after almost 6 months of using a shavette, that blade will still occasionally get me. I like the more "forgiving" edges on the straights.

Long story short.
I had bought a ton of eBay specials when I first got interested in straight razors. I got a couple of "lots" for nothing.
After Lynn suggested that the fromm was hard to take an edge and the cost of a "shave ready" blade plus shipping was around a hundred dollars. I went and bought a Norton 4k/8 k the same price.
I set the edge on a 1k I had sitting around and lapped the crazy out of the straightest edged blade I found in the collection.
Took a swipe and it was glorious! I had to sharpen it a bit more but man what a difference.
Thank you so much for the assistance!
