Shaving angles
I noticed something interesting today. I don't know why I haven't noticed it before. I guess I just need to slow down a bit in life.
When I've gone several days without a shave (which happens often lately) I tend to shave at about a 20 degree angle or so on the first pass, with the atg pass being slightly closer.
When I shave daily the first pass is usually between 30 to 40 degrees to get the results I want without the pulling, etc. the atg is generally the same as afore mentioned.
Anyone else experience this?

I think my angles of attack are pretty constant regardless of how long my beard is. You've got me thinking though and I'll have to watch a little closer to be sure.

I hate to admit it but I have to agree with X on this one. I try to keep the angle consistant.

Im the same as FUD. The other day I shaved after four days without shaving, the longest I've gone since turning straight .
I noticed that my angle the first pass was a little closer than usual, though the second pass was the same as normal.

Thanked: 346I shave every day but I've noticed that I've been gradually lowering my angle for several months now. Most of my shaving is done at about 20 degrees, maybe a little higher for shaving with the grain on my lower neck, but that's it. Not sure why.
The instructions that came with one of my Sears & Roebucks razors say to shave with the razor flat against your face. wierd.

As Newbie to str8s I have been
@ 30deg WTG/XTG
@ 20deg ATG
Since my hair is very thick 20 deg works best ATG

I try to keep the angle at about 20 degrees but I find I just seem to naturally keep increasing the angle more towards 30 or so as I shave. At any rate I tend to really adjust the angle more or less while doing different areas of my face. The basic cheek areas are at 20, my neck less than 20 and my chin more than 20. Its gotten kind of automatic and I really don't even notice what I'm doing unless I actually look as I'm shaving.

Thanked: 2Shaving Angles
I'm the same as the Bigspendur. Different parts of my face get different angles. My upper chin, the blade is almost flat with my face, while the rigt jaw line, I try to keep about a 20 degree angle. Maybe it's my beard and I never paid attention to it before I started using a straight but it seems like it grows in so many different directions at different spots, but it took awhile to figure it all out.
I can see why newbies get all disgusted and want to throw in the towel. Spend all that money and I still have stuble. The cheeks are probally the easiest, but once you get to the chin and neck, that's where the expermintation comes in.
At least, that's the way it was for me.
