Thanked: 171Once in a while you will come across a razor that is just past salvation when you buy vintage razors with the intent of restoring them to their former glory.
It happened to me; I guess it happens to most of us who engage into this sort of hobby.
As far as new razors are concerned, this should not occur with a new razor and this is where Gold Dollars (GD) get their reputation as shoddily made and heavy initial maintenance.
In a way, by buying a factory-new GD you take the same gamble as if buying a vintage razor for restoration.
My only question is: Why should I?
