    This is what I did. I stretched the skin just fine, but the 30 degree angle became greater and greater until I was nearly moving the razor sideways. A stupid thing to do, but I wanted to see what what worked well!
    at least now I know how far I can safely go with this.

    I have successfully been using the slide technique that you described in your original post. Whenever possible I also like to lead with the toe or heal when I am not using this type of slide.
