Default First shave with a straight razor

Well I just finished my first shave with a straight razor. Well it sure is a different experience than anything else I've tried. All in all it went all right. I didn't get the BBS shave I want, but it's my first time. There are a few areas like my jaw line that didn't get as smooth. Only got a couple of very small nicks. I had a blast and can't wait till tomorrow to go at it again.

Congratulations on your first straight razor shave! This is a milestone that most men will never see.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. By the sound of things I think the hook is set!!
Take your time and enjoy the ride!

    Good for you! Congratulations!

There are a lot of variables in SR. shaving. You'll find over time that if you maintain your razor by regularly drying well, stropping well, etc, and experiment with face prep, lather, and shaving technique, things will smooth out (pun intended).

So awesome to keep watching new people coming over to the dark side!!! Be patient, have reasonable expectations and everything else will fall into place. The shaves only get better.

Wecome to the fold, concentrate on a good stropping motion, do not go fast and make sure you keep light pressure on the razor. Might be worth your while to give your face a rest so it can recover.

A good lather is half the shave.
