Thanked: 228Use the Library link at the top of the page. Read, read, and read again! The Library is very useful!
Be nice to us. A lot of us cringed when we read that, " it had no problems cutting paper!" Maybe cried would be more appropriate!

Welcome to the brotherhood, some solid advice there and it sounds like you are on your way. Have a look at some of the posts about razor care after use. Go really slowly to start with when stropping and be really light and precise with your movements. This goes for when you are shaving as well, most people are used to pushing a cartridge razor into their face. The reason I love a straight is it takes a bit of fineness and a light controlled hand to shave comfortably.
A good lather is half the shave.

Thanked: 67Everyone jumps the gun sometimes, and makes mistakes. The problem with straights is that a stropping error or misuse can damage the edge to the point where it is useless until it is rehoned.
Don't feel bad; we've all done it. Get it fixed, and see if that helps.
