Thanked: 0need help asap
I am relatively new to str8 shaving just over a year had to put it down for a bit cuz both my blades got badly dammaged in the move i have honed about 30 times and i am confident about my skill so i fixed up my one razor and it passed the hht with flying colors but for some reason when i shave im still leaving behind some patches that arent bbs. Is tgis because i have fallen out of technique or just not a good edge on the razor. And i use a norton 4k8k fully lapped. Most of my face is bbs but just odd parts like under my jaw and my throat under my chin is this just bad technique or should i re hone my razor?

That's a lot of variables bro. Honing, Technique, Stropping, Shaving Style, Pressure. Really tough to say from a paragraph.

Well under the jaw and the chin are two of the hardest parts to shave, so it could just be that you are out of practice.

Thanked: 23Also could be that the edge isn't consistent across the whole blade. As RezDog said getting it honed would eliminate any questions about the condition of the blade.

Thanked: 17I picked up straight shaving almost 4 years ago. After the initial learning curve it was going good until life got in the way and due to time constraints I went back to a DE. After a bit I tried to pick up the straights again and it was brutal, pulling, tugging and what not.
I assumed my razors were dull so I tried to hone them (I had succesfully honed them before) and eventually sent one out to be professionally honed. I continued to have tugging and discomfort.
Finally got serious and refocused on my technique and now I'm back to almost every day with a straight.
Go back to the fundamentals, almost as if you were starting for the first time. It's an acquired skill that requires practice to stay proficient.
Good luck.

If parts of your face are BBS and others aren't I'd guess your technique is the issue. If the blade was dull it wouldn't shave period or it would be really uncomfortable.
