How many days can you go?
So here is a little back story. I ordered a new strop from SRD. The modular paddle for its versatility and it looks seriously fun to strop with, not to mention I currently am not allowed to screw hooks into the bathroom sink's counter... SWMBO said so. So I've been patiently waiting for it and it's been a solid 6 days and my beard is now in full fledged 1/4"+ itchiness. You know the kind where you constantly scratch because every time you move your head your sharp hairs irritate your skin. (You may not get this.. If you do not you don't know what you're missing )
That being said Canada Post says it should arrive tomorrow. I could not be more excited. My big question here is how many days growth could a SR take off comfortably? I've done 4 days before but never anything too long. I've got some good growth going and I don't want to trim it with an electric trimmer first. I am thinking that there shouldn't be a problem and am going to try it anyways.
How many days growth can you guys get away with shaving?

Two. BUT with heavy, heavy preshave care.
I have to shave everyday for it to be comfortable. Even when used to shave with crappy Mach whatever they are now. It's a dog eat dog world and I have on milk bone underwear.

Thanked: 4827My first pass is always from the bottom up. I come in under the edge of the whiskers, so in theory it is the same if you are going down on the first pass. As I come up under my growth I am cutting the whiskers off at the base. after two days there is likely just as many whiskers per square inch as there ever will be. No matter how long they are they are being cut at the base so how long they are is likely going to make zero difference. My my theory. I have done somewhere between week and ten days. It really is not much different than a regular shave.

One day, ten day's, never really made much of a difference to me. The edge cuts the beard at the same place, regardless of length.
For example, behold a master at work.....

33 days sir, still no sign of land.
Sorry destroyed the atmosphere now
If you have the skills & a well honed razor you will be good to go. If you don't the shave will tug & you will further degrade the edge.
No shame in starting the shave with a trimmer. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

I see your point, length shouldn't matter
Well it is an edge Rezdog put on it and it shaves dandy all other times. I will try without the trimmer and post back. If all else fails next time I will know to trim first or touch the razor up but I should be okay

Thanked: 3795For the past two seasons, I have insulated my face by not shaving for a couple of months while deer hunting in cold Minnesota weather. It takes extra lather, but when I finally shave, it's just another shave!
