I too use a sponge to wipe the lather off the blade, saw it in a video just right after I started using straight razor. It's must more convenient than having running water and keep the blade off the faucet or sink.

Yeah I've tried rinsing but the sponge seems to me to be more efficient as far as time and water usage...when I'm done I use it to wipe the sink then store it just sitting in the mug I use to soak my brush.

A sponge is a very good idea, I've seen it being done a couple times by different people; for now I've always used my hand, will give the sponge a go

Large wet sponge side of sink, damp paper towel on top, wipe blade on towel on sponge, carefully wash blade only under trickling water & rub finger loaded soap over blade, rinse carefully, dry, dip in alcohol/mineral oil mix, store, fold paper towel and dispose.

A wet blade is a smoother blade. Just be careful is all you gotta do.

Just saw a video with the guy using a sponge seems like a good idea. Definitely worth a try
