Ever been mad at one of your razors?
I have! I really zipped myself good a couple of months ago- not paying attention and shaving with a spikey square point led to a one inch (luckily shallow) cut on my cheek. I was pissed at myself- and the razor. It got skipped over in the rotation a couple of times, and I pondered selling it. Instead, today I got out a stone and muted the spike a touch, and shaved with it tonight! It is a wonderful shaver, and did not let me down tonight. I took my time and all went well, we have made up
I can't post a pic right now, but it's a 6/8 Hart steel that had an unusually sharp tip.
Anyone have a similar experience?

I can't say I've ever been mad at a razor, but I've been mad at myself for not paying attention when using a razor...
I will admit that I do not like true spike points. I used one once, it bit my ear, so I've muted all of my spikes. Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead - Charles Bukowski

Thanked: 4827HAHAHA I have been mad about straight razors but I don't think I have been mad at the razor. The hand is usually where the problem lies, no matter what the problem is. In fact I think I am still mad about razors, I think it is the base of my RAD. I too mute my spikes, different spot same issue.

Thanked: 6I know the feeling. I put my French point TI in the penalty box after it bit me in the neck on our first date. We've since made up and it's currently my favorite.

How do you determine when it is the razor that is to blame and when it is you that had other tings on your mind?
I find that when I have had other things on my mind they often tends to remind you of what you are doing.
They also reminds you when you are just a little bit sloppy and get carried away when you are almost done.
True spike or round point does'nt matter. I leave my spikes or squares as they are, and use them with care.
I always blame myself for not taking notice of what I am doing at the moment.

I've gotten really mad at several razors.
When they jump out of my hand, hit the floor and break the scales, I curse them with all sorts evil thoughts. If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

Thanked: 220Ya, but not because of the point. Mostly at dull blades that gave me a terrible shave.

I like my spikes. They insist that I pay attention to the fundamentals: no pressure, short, and light strokes. Nine times out of ten, if you follow these, you will feel the bite of the poor stroke you are about do, and you can stop and adjust before you slice your face off.
Smarter than I look or, not as dumb as I look. Whichever you prefer.

Thanked: 3226Ya, know what you mean about the spike points, clipped an ear lobe or two with them. Mad at myself for not paying close enough attention to what I am doing but never made at the razor. A little scared of it after the fact for a while maybe though. Now I don't use one if I'm feeling the least bit dopey.

The only blades I have had trouble with are the ones with really pointy points. I use these to line and trim around the stash. the barbers notch and round points I shave with. the spike and square points wanted me to look like Van Gogh .
