question for daily shavers
For those that shave daily, how many passes do you do? If you do just a single pass, is it WTG, XTG, or ATG?
I have been shaving more frequently, not daily though, and was considering if I shaved daily I might have low enough growth to do a single ATG pass.

I shave daily including weekends, and one pass WTG provides me with a perfectly fine shave. If I am feeling more OCD, I will go for a second pass XTG.

Thanked: 96I used to do a 3 pass every day then I was watching one of Lynn's beginning shave video's and he spoke about one pass with the grain and a diagonal second pass. I tried it and got a very close shave. Could I get better with 3 passes, probably, but the 2 passes gives me a very close shave. It's quicker with less irritation. Worth the try. You need to take your hand a determine what is actually diagonal for you.

Thanked: 56I'd think one pass ATG would work fine for someone with a relatively soft and sparse beard. If you have a heavy and/or coarse beard, you're setting yourself up for an uncomfortable shave. Perhaps if you shaved 3x a day and kept the hairs knocked down before they had much of a chance to grow, but that could introduce a whole different kind of discomfort, not to mention the time needed to do so.

Usually I do two passes, WTG & XTG on my face and WTG & ATG on my neck. The only time I do a single pass is if I running short on time and in that case I just use my DE.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

I'm a daily shaver and pretty OCD, so I do probably 3 1/2 passes every day. Normally get about 98% BBS.
That is done just for me and I enjoy taking the time to do it. If a one pass does it for you, then that is what you should do.
What is right for one may not be for the other, shaving should be for our own enjoyment and whatever works for you is the right way. Perhaps that is just every other day, who knows.
I will also say that I did not shave yesterday, as I did a lot of outside work and was just plain tired. My wife mentioned to me how scratchy my face was and said that I have really spoiled her with a soft smooth face.Last edited by apipeguy; 09-02-2015 at 02:18 PM.

If I use a Straight, I do 2 passes WTG on my face with a WTG & ATG pass on my neck.
If a DE, then it's 3 passes on my face & neck - WTG. XTG & ATG.Tony

Thanked: 48302 1/2 passes at most, often just two. I start neck up which for most of my face is against the grain, second pass is ears to chin which is mostly across the grain. That usually brings me to a very close very comfortable and clean shave. There are a couple of very small spots on my face and neck that I can feel it is not perfectly smooth, however nobody will ever see that and there are a very limited number of people that would ever touch my face.

Six days a week, with a break on Saturdays. 3 passes WTG, XTG and ATG.
