Hooked on the straight!
Good evening gentlefolk,
Just wanted to say how glad I am I found this site, spend most of today stropping in prep for tonight's first full face shave with the straight. It took me a while, but I was very impressed and proud at the same time. Thanks for all the top tips and it really does pay off to put the ground work in with prep and stropping. Spend most of my nightshirt watching videos And how to guides.
Thanks again and may you all have a good weekend, wherever you are.
Cheers and REspect.

Another finds the joy
'Grats, Howler. What was once an annoying chore is becoming an indulgent, pampering joy. Almost 6 yrs later, I still love my shaves. If I don't have time for a straight shave - i go unshaven. I'd probably grow a beard, rather than return to cartridge hell.

Thanked: 1Congrats on the shave. I'm not far removed from the same place as you. I'm at straight shave # 5, and it just keeps getting better. The videos and threads have been extremely helpful. I find that, even though it takes quite a bit longer for me to get a 3 pass shave with touch-up than with he DE's, the shave is better, and infinitely more enjoyable. Stick with it, it just gets better with time (and practice)

decraew makes a good point - in that the skills you acquire in learning the straight - will make every razor you use perform better. The straight forces us to learn how to shave.

You definitely feel the difference, I have been on the DE for over 5 years and thought that was a close shave. How ever the straight aces it.
looking forward to the next stage of 3 passes, as two were enough last night. starting to look at online shopping in a whole nwew light now for soaps, after shaves and other manly accesories. The wife was not impressed with my new hobby/costs untill she felt the end result (BBS)
