I think we may have spies from Gillette here to convince people that shaving with a straight HAS to take so long.

How fast possible? How fast do you not want to bleed, or how fast do you want to bleed? There are so many variables, are you a new shaver, do you have a thick beard, is your whiskers thin or course, do you have acne, is your skin sensitive, does your whiskers lay flat or do they stand up, if the don't which direction do they grow in? I could go on and on not every face is the same, some things may apply to the most number of faces but not to a few, black men have whiskers that grow kinked which is prone to cause ingrown hairs on your face. My problem is sensitive skin, thick wavy whiskers, ingrown hair, and acne. It takes along time for me to shave regardless of what I use to cut my whiskers, and I have used anything and everything. Now if you have a young clean face and your whiskers look like peach fuzz, you maybe able to shave your whole face under thirty seconds, lol. Remember a straight razor can be so sharp that it will cut hair with little to no effort, so you may set a world record for shaving your face fast, but your may need to go to the emergency room after your done and need a blood transfusion.

It usually takes me about 45 mins. Now, that includes prep time, shave , post shave , clean up time, and strop time after shave. That is the entire process. I should mention that I am retired and shave only 3 times a week. I also like the zen part of it.

I could do it calmly in about 8 minutes, for a two pass shave, bowl lathered'
The shave below took much less time.
I do not recommend moving at the speed below, it is dangerous, I believe. As you will see in the video at one point getting in a hurry with a straight is not wise.. I just wanted to see how fast I could do it, if I had to.

Thanked: 580Can't see the point in rushing and have never timed a shave. There is no way I can shave off one weeks growth with a cart, usually takes two. Can plough down a weeks growth with a cut throat no problem. Canned goo is rubbish and uneconomical, treat yourself to a descent brush and a nice soap...

Hell guess I'm way too slow, from lather, stropping, to oiling razor to put away, and final alum application, I'm in the bathroom, for about 45 minutes. Why spoil a good meditation time, trying to make it under 5 minutes????????
Oh and I shave the three pass method also -Last edited by pundi6446; 01-13-2016 at 12:12 AM.
