My first Lynn honed razor, ...shave
I'm not sure if this should go in "Razors", "Shave of the Day", or "Shaving", or Soaps, but here goes:
I sent in a "Wade and Butcher" wedge to Lynn for honing. Got it today; I was like a kid at Chrismas time, couldn't wait to get in the bathroom. Ironically, I got a package from Churchills Barber Shop that sent some samples. Eureka! What a day! They sent some Truefitt & Hill, 1805, shaving cream and Jack Black Beard Lube. I didn't care too much for the 1805 shave cream(it was okay), or the Beard lube. The sc dried out a little while shaving, and I still prefer Proraso pre-lube. Colleens is still the best of the soaps...! I didn't even strop the blade. I figured I could do that during the shave, if needed. Wow! The razor was very sharp. I made two passes: WTG and XTG, and a bit of clean up after. The wedge was different than shaving with a hollow ground. The angle seemed needing to be a bit narrower. - and perhaps more forgiving, too. I spent a little more time getting to the stuborn stubble(stuborn stubble? ). The shave was the closest, yet, except when I was cleaning up with a DE and was taking my skin down to the second and third layers. Either way, the razor cut beautifully! No nicks, no blood, and no razorburn. I really like this wedge. I do not have a very heavy beard and I thought it would be too much razor for me, but no, it was great. It will be in my rotation forevermore.
* Thank you, Lynn for providing me with this wonderful instrument. I am now a believer, and a follower of yours forever (actually, I already was).
