Removed a chunk of skin this morning
As the title states.....
i was was shaving with a shoulder less Brantford, an American made straight, and was doing a wtg pass near my mouth and removed rectangular section of skin. It was pretty unexpected, and something I hadn't done up until now. There was no bump or oddity in the area. My only guess is that since I wasn't giving my skin a good stretch and was using a little too much angle and probably some pressure, the edge caught. There was very little blood so I think I may have left one or two layers of skin. I didn't hurt and still doesn't. I stopped the bleeding with a styptic pencil post shave and that also didn't sting. Wondering if anyone else has accomplished such a feat, and if so, what you did to cause it. Maybe together we can avoid such harrowing experiences in the future.

Was weird, I think I have three slices, always next to the ear and with a spike point, and then one while puffing my cheek while I touched the edge to my face. This one was new to me. For the life of me I can't recall exactly what I was doing when it happened that may have caused it. The blade sure is sharp though, so smooth I didn't feel it happe. I attribute it to my amazing skills as a honer.

I've gotten myself along both ears...... 1/4 cut. I'm always cautious when around that area.
And for some reason..... I have cut myself right above my Adam's Apple...... Did it twice.
No fun!Is it over there or over yonder?

Thanked: 4828I had scraped my cheek on a corner of a piece of ducting once and it left an angry looking welt but did not bleed. Fast forward to that night when I was tired and trying to shave quickly and did not want to stop and fix my dry lather. As the razor passed over the welt, I felt it bite. When I rinsed the lather off I had filleted a ver thin piece of skin off. I thought I am going to bleed like a stuck pig. I got me styptic pencil out and it wasn't bleeding, so I rubbed it with the styptic and finished the pass. The next day I had a very tiny white scab on it. The day after that I shaved the scab off and it stung like the dickens, but again did not bleed, but I got a bigger white scab. I have since learned to wipe the lather from around a scab or injury to remind you of exactly where it is while shaving. I do have a scar, but seeing as nobody pay for perfect pictures of this mug, it doesn't really matter. It is not as big as my Mac III scar right next to it.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Not a rectangle, but a crescent on the left side concave of my chin was chopped off by my first very happy smiling Swedish frameback. Took some time to grow new skin layers on it. Din't bleed, just "microtomized" some shell layers.

Thanked: 250Yesterday morning I knew I was going to have a weeper before I started shaving. I noticed that I had a small pimple on my chin when I lathered and I couldn't wait to get to it. My straight mowed that sucker right off. After I shaved a good splash of cold water, a rub with the alum block and I was good to go.

Thanked: 1936Ya big baby, suck it up! Welcome to manhood!
All kidding aside though, I've done it before too. Styptic pen is quite handy in such a situation if you got a little deep. I cut myself the other day...was in a hurry and the razor decided to remind me to not rush a good shaveSoutheastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you and God Bless, Scott

Thanked: 39Try spiking yourself up by the ear for about a 1/4" then you'll learn about how to stop the bleeding! That's nothing you got there.

Angle error. I do it regularly! And I've been shaving with a straight for 30++ yrs. You will be able to (gently) shave over the thin scab next day.
