    Great thread Obie ..

This past year has shown me just how tenuous our grip on life is, and I'm looking for a much better 2016!

I suffer osteoarthritis in most joints, and my neck is probably the worst of it. So, contorting my head into some positions is out of the question. The base of my thumbs is bad also, along with two broken shoulders. Both elbows broken also, but oddly enough, as ugly as they look on X-rays, they don't bother me ...

    So, I consider myself lucky!

The resilience of the human body is amazing. Funny thing you should mention arthritis. Arthritis runs in my family and I've had the first signs at 25. I'm 31 now and I can barely move my arms whenever it rains. I'm sure there are people out there that can do things with one hand that most able bodied people can only dream of. The skill does not lie in your arms or legs but in your spirit. It is a part of who you are no matter how crippled your body is. Conquer your fears and you will conquer death. Cheers

I have yet to meet anyone who has accomplished that.

I started experimenting with straights because of the razor burn I used to get with cartridge and DE blades. My skin is no longer as sensitive though lately I am having a lot of razor burn below the jaw line on the left. I do have to chose between a close shave and an irritation-free shave.

It's a metaphor or whatever you call it. Figure of speech? Something along the lines that there is nothing you can't conquer and obviously the only thing you cannot conquer is death but give it time, banks will find a way to conquer death so they can suck the money outta you and make sure your mortgage is paid before you die.

I read it to mean that if you conquer all of your fears you will no longer fear death thus removing it's perceived power over you.
