Default Kamisori - worst cut of my life

OMG! I've been using a gentle 'scoop' type motion on my upper lip to get a nice clean pass. It's been working great and I started today in the middle of my upper lip - first stroke - awesome.

Second stroke - moved to under my right nostril and for some reason I was not paying ANY attention I had the angle so terribly, terribly wrong. I think it was probably 40-50 degrees to my face...Started the scoopy move (btw the Tosuke was freshly honed and stropped - I could hear it slicing atoms of oxygen as I moved it to my face) and yup....it scooped- a piece of my face about half the size of my little fingernail.

I finished a two pass shave - a little shaky from the cut - mopping blood from my lip and chin the whole while. After I cleaned up, I noticed the flap of skin still attached so my wife helped my put it back up over the gouge no applied some polysporin. Hopefully it will heal soon.

My lovely wife gave me a rather sizeable blast of sh^$ for being "...so stupid..." And cuffed my up-side the head. Live and learn....

*sigh* - I SO thought I had this thing mattered after a week of no cuts.... But...as the 'experts' here always say - PAY ATTENTION!!!!!

No pics - it's too gross.

    Barry.

I haven't shaved my upper lip since 1978. Prior to that I always did the fool's pass.

You know, after a week or so, that is the most dangerous time because you think you have it figured out and you let your guard down and then it happens.

Yup, I had a lot of cuts 2-3 weeks after I started.

I did the same thing, made a nice flap of skin on my chin right before I was going to go golfing for fathers day with my Dad. Couldn't get the stupid thing to stop bleeding either. These blades demand a lot of respect, and the second you lose any respect for them, they let you know. Get back on the horse but this time, maintain the respect for the blade!

Yep the first time you think " I GOT THIS " while shaving with a straight, is the first time you'll be picking body parts out of the sink.

After the first week of shaving I always recommend a small first aid kit and a bottle of super glue next to the towel :<0)

A number of times, I've come close to going for a full face shave, I have a goatee, but always wanted to give the whole face a try - then I read stuff like this, and I back away. It's one thing to shave with a straight I'd imagine when you have a goatee or moustache, but an entirely different game if you're going the full monty....keep some polysporin on it and bypass that area till it's well healed.

Yeah forgot to mention...It may be time to try a mustache and let that heal. Going to be awhile before you pass any blade over it if it's what you make it sound like. Which none of really believes by the way. No pic didn't happen. Put it in http://straightrazorpalace.com/shavi...tml#post989192 thread and see the rest of us on a bad day:<0)
