Thanked: 0Complacency
Well I've been shaving with a straight for two whole weeks now. I started slowly with just the cheeks, then I've worked up to a full shave for the last week.
I have been quite smug with myself and getting quite relaxed until I looked in the mirror tonight and saw myself bleeding like a stuck pig, blood pouring down my cheek. I've taken a half inch slice out of my cheek.
Every cloud has a silver lining however, my home made strop must be working because I never felt it at the time

I think you'll find it a common occurrence when you reach between the two week and one month time frame complacency sets in and that's when guys slice themselves. I know I did it too.

When you are learning concentration and thinking about what you are doing is very important. [Two weeks is not enough!]
One day a year or so from now you will get done shaving and not remember what you did, blade angle etc. Then you will know that your subconscious mind is doing it and you have mastered the skill.

Thanked: 220It happens when you least expect it. Flying along and then all of the sudden the blade bites you out of nowhere. It's just the razor reminding you of what it's capable of.

Thanked: 9Always be mindful of where both hands are at all times too or you could end up with a nasty cut on your finger too.
Have a great day!

I was the same a couple of times. I kept reminding myself of the advice Han Solo gives Luke Skywalker after he shots down his first Tie-fighter. "Great Kid. Don't get cocky!"

I think we have all done it! I really zipped myself a couple of times and now don't shave unless I am "all there"!
