I have never oiled my razors, I Stop them after a shave and wipe them with toilet paper. I then leave the razor open and out to dry somewhere in the house.

I've read somewhere that some do not oil their straights after shaving but put them in a special sock? Sorry, newbie here.

I guess it would be whether your going to use them again or store them. If you store them for a long time i would put some kind of protection on them. I pick two out of the collection and shave with them for a week or two then clean oil and wrap in wax paper put them in there coffin an pick out a couple more. I have stored some for a year or more this way with no rust. I had rather take the trouble to do this as to take the chance of one of my blades rusting. But then again i go over board on some things.

I dry the razor after a shave with 91% rubbing alcohol, then strop, then oil with Ballistol.

Everyone should watch Howard Schecter if you haven't already or are new to razors.
