Thanked: 0Muscular spasms and twitches are generally caused by a lack of salt. If you had worked up a good sweat playing footy, then didnt have something isotonic, that would be a pretty good reason for it.
When you say Footie you mean american football right? If you were using your right arm a lot to throw (if you were QB) then that would be the explanation.
As to the mental process - I would also have gone Razor, Blood, Face. Probably then with a quick look to make sure I didnt damage the bathroom surfaces, because that would have been the girlfriends first thought.

MY first thought would be "what the heck am I spasming" ?!!!?
That would be my first investigation. Forget a cut which will heal and a blade which can be replaced.

Heresy!
As a dedicatedly rubbish 5-a-side footie player (alas, too old for Sunday League anymore), I resent the assumption of playing a game called football where one primarily uses ones hands.
I play footie. Jumpers for goalposts, Jimmy Hill, Lawro getting it wrong, mullets, constant disappointment, the misery of the FA Cup, etc.
As for the right arm....
that's the one I use for shoulder-barging wimpy strikers off the ball. (My central defence philosophy is: they're not getting past, and if they do, they're coming down.)

That's a scary experience. But my first thought would be the razor too, which is strange because most of us have more razor than we have arms hehe. They should make a saftey wrist strap for these situations

I crashed a motorcycle three years ago at about 65 mph. After I tumbled to a stop, my first thought was my motorcycle (which was totaled). I think we underestimate our mortality.

Thanked: 9Scary, Mark! I mean, a spasm on the face / throat pass... I hate to think what might have happened!
If I just drop a blade and obviously didn't catch any body part of course my first thought would be "Sh!t I hope the blade's alright!" Been there done that. Damaged a very very nice razor like this, and still cannot find a replacement (it's kind of rare, and on top of this I had gotten it mighty cheap off ebay)
But otherwise I'd be most concerned for myself, I think.
Honestly, if I were getting spasms I would seriously consider leaving straights aside. Or buy one of these with the weird guard - they seem to be expensive just for the extraordinary style but for me it would be worth it. Safety single edge razor that I hone and strop like a regular straight would be my other choice to replace a regular straight.
Get yourself checked out. Good luck

Thanks Ivo. This is the first spasm in memory. I dunno, for the moment I'm chalking down to post-sport fatigue, but if it reoccurs I have a cheap and convenient medical service to access...
my wife's a GP. Mind you, she doesn't have much time for sports or shaving injuries!

Thanked: 0@Mark - I would not let the spasm worry you.
@The Naysayers - come on - it was a spasm. They happen. Dont they? I mean does your leg never twitch? Your cheek occassionally flutter?
Guys?
No?
Oh. Does your wife have any room for me?
