Default Choosing the right razor for the beard

Just wondering how other folks decided which razor to use and when. I've noticed that if i go 1-1 1/2 days before i shave i will use one of the solingen razors hollow ground but if i go 3-5 days i will reach for one of the heavier Sheffield. Now i don't know if the beard just gets tougher or if there's more beard . Kind of like when you mow the lawn. grass don't grow at the same rate so the beard might not. I do know that if i wait for 3-5 days it seams like i get a closer shave. or maybe it's that my mind is so forgettable that i can't remember what kind of shave i got after just one day. Anyway What do ya'll think and do.

I shave daily. I prefer full hollows but use wedges too. No noticeable difference. As long as the edge is good and prep is adequate. Shaved off a full beard I had grown for a month about 20 years ago with a 4/8 Shulze. Worked fine. Some think a heavier razor works on a longer beard better but I think the prep is the key to soften it completely and work the lather down onto the skin

Prep and sharpness are the key. My extra hollow will clean shave several days of growth just as well as my near wedge.

I will admit that the shave does feel closer when you remove several days growth.

Same way I decide which pipe and tobacco I want to smoke ..... I look at the herd and one or another calls to me. Wedge to full hollow, if the edge is 'right' it'll do the job.

Yep, that's how I do it.
I used to shave every day, but am finding myself skipping a day or two here and there. I have several different grinds, sizes, etc. They all will do the job as long as they are shave ready.

I find that it is less comfortable to shave longer hair, regardless of the blade. A few days don't matter, but if I have a week's growth, I prefer to use clippers to bring it to shaving length.

FWIW, yesterday, I mowed down a 72-hour beard with a contemporary Dovo full-hollow just fine.

Yep, it's not about the weapon. It's how you wield it.

I just use the next one in the rotation.

I shave Mon-Fri and let my beard grow on the weekend. Interesting that you mentioned the closer shave after several days growth as I have observed the same thing on Monday mornings.
