Took my first razor out again a dovo best quality I have always had some tugging with it from the first use and gave it a good stropping like how mephisto described. Night and day difference. Shaves way smoother after I worked on my stropping.

I contacted SRP and they're very nice indeed, Lynn told me I can send the blade anytime for re-honing, but I want to see first if I can fix this with stropping. I don't have a spare blade (I'm actually considering getting one now), and by the looks of it it may take a few weeks before I would get my re-honed blade back.

Something I noticed in the video that is definitely different than what I do is the speed of the blade during the pass. Not the frequency of the passes (so not how fast you turn the blade and come back). My "technique" (more like lack of) is that I'm moving that blade quite slowly on the strop, but from the video I see that mephisto accelerates the motion to the point where there's an actual sound, some "woosh" due to the friction between the blade and the strop. I'll try this next time I strop.

Just be careful when you increase the speed of the stroke. It has been know to throw timing off and leads to cutting the strop. Get a good stropping technique down and the speed will come naturally.

Yup take your time I do it like on the video I take my time and make sure both strokes sound the same. I also made sure to hold the blade and flip it like he does. Before I would twist my wrist and probably put too much force. Check the classifieds there are a couple cheap blades on there that look really good. Then send your razor in for the rehone.

Very good suggestions. I know that it took a couple to get the hang of SR. The videos that I have seen on YouTube show stropping on web about 30 times and on the leather about 50.
