Interesting about going for the honing early on, I still haven't looked into that yet. My stropping still needs work yet. I will get there though I am determined.
Thanks for reading the long diary. I'm near Toronto, ON tonight. Most of the time I'm in a private shower room in the USA at the truck stops. But not today. Got in early about 1500. Had to use a public washroom to shave. Adequate set up, counter space. So I got going. Not a lot of a traffic but I got lots of looks and double takes. Couple of fellas asked questions. Nice conversations. Wish I had time to stop by the Classic Edge in Toronto and meet Phil and wife.
    Papabear11 and Porl like this.
A little advice: Don't impede an 80,000 lbs. 18 wheeler tanker carrying hazardous chemicals.

(Careful now, this is going to date me some..) Started shaving with a Gillette Mach3 at probably about 15, and had loathed shaving ever since. Lots of skin irritation, the works. So I decided to grow a beard for the last two years, and avoid the issue all together.

Recently I have become more and more interested in reviving/getting back to the simpler, more healthy times, when men were men and they shaved with straight razors! I see it as a dying art form, something that more people should be acquainted with...

Excitedly, as the somewhat looming age of 30 draws ever nearer, I decided to order a new straight razor and kit to do away the irritation/burn and suffer through the nicks, the cuts and anxiety on my journey to acquire that "perfect" shave.

So though I'm new to this, and still learning I'm priding myself in learning as much as possible and in return, try to encourage more people to discover this somewhat lost practice and share what ever knowledge I acquire over the years.
