Thanked: 433You could also try lowering your angle until the blade almost touches your face then slowly raising the angle until you find the sweet spot

I had similar issues at first, for me it was three things.
1) Too much pressure, no pressure is needed and that was difficult for me to grasp.
2) Soap/cream was too dry.
3) Not stretching enough.
It could be all three or any combination or even just one of these things, but when I got them right everything just fell into place.
Take your time and have fun, you will get there.Fact: Opinions are not the same as facts... Well, that's my opinion anyway

My early cuts in the beginning came from not having the razor in motion before touching it to my face.

I like the angle of attack theory and possibly not stretching enough. Although the chin area is prone to bad angles for the inexperienced but stretching around that area isn't really that critical unless you have a floppy face.
Keep lather wet and angle low.
Keep pressure very light, no need for it. A blade will dig in when you apply pressure with a higher angle. No Bueno.Last edited by Razorfaust; 09-17-2016 at 04:29 AM.
Don't drink and shave!

Not using proper angle with blade, pressing on skin with too much pressure, not stretching out your skin being shaved, or badly sharpened blade needing some attention.

What everyone has already stated and...
being rather new myself the chin was giving me some problems as well. Best advice I read off a another thread is: use short strokes (as mentioned above) with the heel of the razor. It really helped get those tuff spots pretty smooth in the chin area without cuts, and it wasn't terribly long before I saw improvement to one smooth stroke down and around the chin.
Again I take no credit...got it from some other SR Jedi's!Keep it safe and Cheers,
Jer

As a few others have mentioned, I think angle may be a big part of the issue here. Lay the blade flat against your face and lift the spine just a bit. It should be just enough to fit another razor spine under it. If that wont shave, it probably needs honing. When you get good with that angle, you can play around with some more aggressive angles. A keen edge, at the right angle is very gentle on the skin.
