That's interesting. I wonder if it's the iron in the blood or the oxygen rich blood cells, or a combination of both. Perhaps it is that blood is thicker than water and so doesn't rinse or wipe off so easily. Definitely worth bearing in mind whatever the reason.

Also sharks can smell blood from miles away...
