62 IiRC. I think.
46 years ago at the age of 14.:)
33. About 4 yrs ago
Twenty six.
I rally can't remember. I know i was in High school when I tried it the first time. Then I used it some when I was in the military. Then off and on again over the years. I re-started in 11-12 and used nothing else since then. O and I was in high school in the mid 60's.
It was sometime in 2005 that JimmyHAD was showing me some old straights that he was getting ready to sell on eBay, and I got "bitten"... but I didn't buy my first straight razor until the end of November 2006. I was 53 years-old... almost 54... and had joined SRP a few days prior. Yes, I blame it all on him. :D
I'd say about 14 years ago so at 32. But didn't use it for long, gave up and picked one back up a couple months ago. Pretty much all I've used since
At 67, three years ago. I only wish someone would have introduced me to straights when I started wet shaving in 1962.
59, 4 years ago.
60, 2 years ago. Came back to wet shaving after 3-4 years of disposable razor use. Picked up that bad habit when the grocery store quit carrying Schick injector blades. I had a roommate back in the late 70's who wore a beard but shaved his neck with a straight. Wish I had picked it up back then.
Late 20's early 30's. Put it down for 10 years then went back to straights. I am now 68.
I don't remember if it was 20 or 22 lifetimes ago but I was pretty young. Now was it during the sacking of Rome or when Cleopatra and me....
53.
Last year.
About 60 iirc.
Bob
First started about 1984, so I was 35. I lasted for a month or two and gave it up for the 'good news' ........ Gillette Good News that is. Continued to collect straights off and on until 2006 when I decided to sell the 20 or so I still had. Came back to it in 2007 @ 58 years old. Been at it ever since.
32 or 33, I'm thinking 32, bout 6 years ago, but I just started back after a 2 year break.
A lot of you guys are making me feel like a novice, like you've all got a leg up on me. :rofl2: ba dum, psh!
24, 13 years ago.
I am 38 now, and i first used a straight a few months after my forum join date
I started at the grand old age of 31ish - 6 years ago.
just over a year ago at 47
53 just started 3 weeks ago.
53 years old.
41, 3 years ago
Late teens (probably '86 or '87). Strayed to disposables while in the Army. The back to SR for a few years, then "life" got a hold of me and I didn't have time in the mornings to go slow with a SR. Used a DE for the quickness, daily until about 6 months ago, when I revisited the SR for my daily shaves.
I started at age 59, I'm 67 now...........
46 about 32 years too late, but I am here now.
About 23. Did cheat with cheap Bic razors from time to time, but eventually, decided the time and extra care of using a straight were well worth the effort. Thirty years later, it is still the way to go.
40.
I'm still 40.
57 - I'm 59 now. I'm what they call a late bloomer!
30-ish, half a lifetime ago
Started shaving with a SR this time last year at 36.

32, started this year.
I was around 49 when I first gave a straight a try.... Once I got the hang of honing, I haven't looked back except for a 3-4 year stint of poor health that saw me fall back on a DE for simplicity sakes.... I still have a lot of problems, but I'm back with my straights. so I'm happy.
11 June 2013 on my 43rd birthday
I bought my first straight about 6 months before joining here, so...2.5 years ago at 28.
I wish someone had introduced me to these at 15 when I started. Would've saved a lot of razor burn and headache.
33. Started with a DE first and then moved into the straight. Only use a straight anymore.
