Due to a mixture of not having enough time to hone like I used to I have been using DE with mug and brush for awhile now. The other issue that has plagued me with straight shaving relates to my neck: The extreme sharpness of a well honed razor I believe shears the whisker so cleanly that my neck whiskers are horribly prone to becoming ingrown even with a very gentle touch to ensure I'm not pressing down on the skin unnecessarily thereby shearing off the whiskers below skin surface level.

Electric rotary shavers as we all know do a horrible job compared to wet shaving with a straight, but between straight, DE or electric, electric when I'd use one was the least problematic on my neck. I would attribute that to the poor job electric shavers do at cutting (I call them whisker grinders).

Perhaps I should continue to shave with a straight on my face and accept a less than smooth shave on my neck by using some other means to do the neck shaves?
