Thanked: 9Second Straight razor attempt
Tried my 5/8 Dovo and got my entire face one pass with the grain and no cuts. Very excited. Not BBS but a decent shave. Finished the last two passes with the safety razor. Didn't want to push my luck. Sorry for the sideways pic, I was lucky enough just to figure out how to post it.

Slow and easy, better to do little bits at a time then have a beet red face from razor burn or cuts. Glad you are enjoying yourself that is what this is all about, BBS will come in time.

Hello Atlas 1911 and welcome to SRP!
Congratulations on your second shave.
For now, watch all the straight razor shaving video's you can.
Watch Lynn's video a few times.
Practice shave strokes that you think might work for you with a butter knife.
Stay in your comfort zone when shaving. Don't rush. Don't be afraid to put the razor down and take a breather if something feels wrong.
Slow, light, easy short strokes will work best while learning.
Keep practicing and you'll be an old pro in no time at all!
Good luck!

Thanked: 56Nice job! Go for irritation free before BBS. No point having a smooth shave if your neck ends up beet red. Slow and steady, adding a new area as you get comfortable will improve your learning curve.

Congrats! You will gradually improve the shave as time goes on. To get closer, look at incorporating XTG strokes before attempting ATG ones as they are much easier to do. The easiest place for me to learn ATG was on my cheeks. Chin and mustache areas are by far the most difficult.

Congrats! I'm new as well... using a 5/8ths Boker King Cutter... and LOVE the entire process... only a couple weeks in and the guys here are great. (And right) I've been bloodless my last several shaves... it's easy to become too confidant.... SLOW and steady... LIGHT pressure
