A razor can seem sharp as you shave the easy areas...the large flat planes of the face. Then when you get to the challenging part, the center of the face and neck, you find that it's not as sharp as you thought. This may not be what is going on in your case, but just floating the idea out there.

Thanked: 0Shaving off just the lather is a good idea I have not tried. I will this morning. I have watched many YouTube videos and they are very informative. I have a good 2 sided strop and have put chromium oxide on the inside of the braded side. I feel I am getting better @ shaving, but also think I should be improving faster. I do not have any facial hair left on my face. I shave all areas. I think my angle is correct, but my pressure might be too heavy. I will also try to focus on that this morning. The rolled edge has me a bit confused. I bought a Led light, but not sure what I am seeing. Thanks RayClem, I really appreciate your thoughts.

Thanked: 0Thanks Wayne. That is exactly what happens. I was never good using my left hand for anything, so I do switch to the right hand often. The upper lip seems to create more problems along with the lower left neck and of course the chin area. Thank for the thought.

Thanked: 0I bought my 5/8'd Dovo from SRD and they offer a free honing. I might just send that back for the honing and use my Hart Steel 6/8's until the Dovo is returned.

Thanked: 3226Yes, get your Dovo rehoned at SRD and when you get it back do not strop it before your first shave. Strop it before your second shave and if it feels duller then there is the possibility that your stropping is part of the problem. Try and eliminate one variable at a time till you isolate what the problem/problems are.

This is the way to go, just relax and let the razor glide over your face, pressure is your enemy

After 100 shaves or so, you'll really be able to look back and see how far you've come
